WGHS Teachers Report April 2021
Today was my first day in the classroom after the school holiudays. I appreciated the opportunity during non-teaching time to listen to some lectures, do some reading and complete some professional development through Generate and Youthworks. I reviewed lessons from Term 1 and made preparations for Term 2.
During last term the Admin staff and I have made progress on the accuracy of the 7-10 rolls. Numbers of students per year:
Year 7 – 14 students
Year 8 – 12 students
Year 9 – 5 students (but I have only met 3)
Year 10 – 5 students
I have seen Year 7 for four lessons, Year 8 for three, Year 9 for one, Year 10 for one and a half, Year 11 and 12 for one.

The classes are wonderful times, the girls are highly engaged and responsive.
Easter Assembly did not run because of Covid restrictions. The ISCF Group continues to be a great encouragement. In our last meeting of the term we focused on Easter. The girls designed a poster and were encouraged to invite friends. There were two first-time attendees there. I spoke on the hope of the resurrection.
Connect is usually attended by around 7-10 students. It has a lovely atmosphere and I feel like I have good rapport with the students, seeing them every week makes a big difference. The Think Faith Jonah unit of work has been excellent. At Connect on the last day of term we deviated from our usual lessons in Jonah for an Easter lesson. The girls filmed a short
video, in social media style, acting as the women discovering the empty tomb. It was a lot of fun but more importantly, they took seriously the task of imagining how the disciples must have felt that first Easter morning. And how we might feel about Easter today. At the end of that lesson, one student, new to the school this year, told me she had learnt the meaning of Easter, never having known it before!
In March attended a P&C meeting which was very insightful.
I have met with Tony Wright and Joel Moroney at Willoughby Park Anglican and Pippie van den Heuvel at St Stephen’s Willoughby. I was observed today by Jenn Phillips from Youthworks and look forward to receiving her feedback. I have found her to be a valuable contact and source of encouragement. I have been able to review some online training modules she has prepared and offer feedback which she has appreciated.
Simon continues to be an outstanding supervisor and I appreciate my regular meetings with him –犀利士 his encouragement, prayer and wisdom.
